EACC Presents "Art Conversations II" Exhibit

The EACC Gallery presents Art Conversations II, an exhibition by artist Catherine Vaughn of Clarkedale, Arkansas.  The exhibit through Friday, February 26th.

Artist Catherine Vaughn grew up in Clarkedale, Arkansas and attended Marion High School where she originally pursued music, but quickly discovered art as her skill.  While in high school, Vaughn attended Arkansas Governor's School and was awarded "Best Artist of the Year" at her graduation in 1991.  After graduating high school, she attended Memphis College of Art and obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design.

While studying at Memphis College of Art, Vaughn focused on design, illustration, and printmaking.  After graduating from college, she spent several years working various jobs while she put her love for painting aside.  In 2011, she was asked to exhibit in the Delta Arts group show, and exhibited in the show again in 2013.  Following the shows, she sold several paintings and was asked to commission several more pieces.

Vaughn enjoys working with acrylic and oil paints on canvas or wood.  In 2018, she exhibited her first solo show Art Conversations at ANF Architects in Memphis.  In 2019, she was featured at the Blue Bridge Center for the Delta Arts show in Newport and won "Best of Show" for her painting, "Cotton Field with Blue Tones."  Vaughn's work has been displayed and featured in private collections and shows throughout the Mid-South.  Her life's goal is to one day have her own studio space to create and display her work.

The EACC Gallery is located in the EACC Fine Arts Center.  Daily hours for the Gallery are Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., or as scheduled for special group tours. There is no charge for admission. The virtual exhibit of Art Conversations II is available to view on East Arkansas Community College's YouTube channel.  For more information, call 870-633-4480, ext. 352.
