Academic Advising
Our primary focus is providing students with information
and tools to help them make good choices. Academic advisors work closely
with students throughout their college stay to establish trust and cultivate
long-term advisor-advisee relationships. Students can expect to receive
advising that encompasses exploration of life goals; exploration of vocational
goals; program and course choices; and scheduling courses.
Additional Advising Responsibilities Include:
- Knowledgeable of college policies and procedures as
outlined
in the college catalog, the student handbook, and the advisor's
manual.
- Provide information to help students set realistic
goals and
make their own decisions and choices.
- Establish specific office hours for advising assigned
students
and meeting advisees on a regular basis.
- Assist students in the interpretation of the Degree
Audit/
Transcript.
- Assist students in monitoring their academic progress.
- Assist students in understanding their particular
program
program requirements.
- Assist students in the consideration of other areas
of enrich-
ment appropriate to the student's abilities, goals, and interests.
- Act as referral agents to other services on campus.
