Anne Kelso, EACC Administrative Secretary for the Vice President for Student Affairs received the EACC Outstanding Staff Award at the third annual Awards Ceremony held at the Lecture Hall on April 18th.
  
The award is made possible by the EACC Foundation. This award is presented yearly to an EACC employee who manifests outstanding job performance, attitude and willingness to go “that extra” mile for the good of the College.
 
Anne Kelso has been with EACC since 2005. Her coworkers write; “From the day she joined the College family, she has proven to be a great asset.  She is always friendly, accommodating and personable. Her job skills and can-do attitude are exemplary. When a challenge presents itself, she is very quick to take the initiative to figure out the best solution to the problem.  She is very creative and exhibits wonderful ingenuity in the workplace.”
  
In addition to her demanding duties as an Administrative Secretary, she has very efficiently and effectively assumed the demanding responsibility of serving as secretary for the Higher Learning Commission/Accreditation Steering Committee. She also is responsible for the organization of the Self-Study Resource Room.

Clyde Rodgers was awarded the EACC Distinguished Teaching Award. Presented yearly to one EACC faculty member for his or her “Excellence in Teaching” and service to students, this award is also provided by the EACC Foundation.
  
Throughout his long teaching career at EACC, Clyde Rodgers has demonstrated enthusiasm, and sense of humor, creativity, and a continual concern for the intellectual growth of his students. In and out of the classroom, his focus is on student learning. He establishes a wonderful rapport with his students, generates an excitement for learning in his classroom, and actively involves students in interesting educational experiences. He is generous with his time, easily accessible and responsive to student concerns. He possesses a comprehensive knowledge of his subject matter.

Rodgers was instrumental in establishing the Reading Center-now called the EACC Learning Center-that is an innovative tutorial resource for all enrolled students.  He also made contributions in the formation of the EACC Faculty Forum that was designed for the purpose of sharing innovative and creative teaching techniques. He is a believer in lifelong learning and has proven this by the publication of his two books- his novel- Lives of Quiet Desperation and a book of poetry- Just Tuning My Air Guitar.  Employed at EACC since 1985, Clyde Rogers is a shining example of teaching at its best.
