East Arkansas Community College student, Daniel “Tojo” Haynes of Palestine, Arkansas, was recently awarded an art scholarship for the 2008/2009 term by the Henderson State University Art Department in Arkadelphia. 

The art scholarship is a competitive award given each year by the HSU art faculty to one transfer student and one incoming freshman.  Daniel submitted a drawing portfolio and an art essay to the scholarship committee and received the highest marks for his work.  He completed the art work while enrolled in Drawing I and Drawing II classes taught by Jayme Huff at EACC.

Haynes plans to major in graphic design and will pursue a career in the Air Force.
