Testing and Placement
In accordance with Section 19 of Act 1052 of 1987, all entering students must demonstrate mastery of basic skills in writing, reading, and mathematics. Placement tests, such as the ACT and ASSET, help to identify students’ skill levels in those areas and help students become more aware of their academic strengths and weaknesses. When test scores indicate a need for developmental study, students will be placed in appropriate courses. Academic advising guidelines are as follows:
