The East Arkansas Community College Fine Arts Center Gallery in Forrest City presents Performances Past, a photography exhibit featuring professional photographer Mark Loft’s images from the EACC Fine Arts Center’s past seasons’ performances. The exhibition will run through July 1st.
Native and lifelong resident of Memphis, Mark Loft graduated from Christian Brothers College and has over 27 years of experience in the investment business, where he currently serves as Vice-President, Portfolio Manager with UBS. Photography has been a serious hobby of Loft’s since childhood. “Photography and music are my recreation and hobbies. I work in an office, in a career that I love, but it doesn’t satisfy my creative streak. Photography and music do that, and much more,” said Loft.
Loft began shooting photography for performing arts centers in the Memphis area several years ago. “The performing arts centers receive performance photos and I get to shoot some of my favorite artists, a great win-win arrangement,” said Loft. “You have a real gem here in Eastern Arkansas. I’ve seen, up-close, most of the similar venues in the area, and yours is, without a doubt, the nicest. Your lighting, sound, and backstage facilities are state-of-the-art.” “The EACC Fine Arts Center is probably my favorite venue to shoot for many reasons, but especially for the lighting,” said Loft.
“Shooting live events, in real-time, means you make the most of what you have as it unfolds before you. No rehearsals, no do-overs. I’ve learned to anticipate, to look for a rhythm in an artist’s movements, and to be one with the camera,” said Loft. “The roster of artists that have performed at the EACC Fine Arts Center is quite impressive. You really do have a first-class venue here,” said Loft.
The EACC Gallery is located at 1700 Newcastle Road in Forrest City. New regular daily hours for the Gallery are Monday - Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 pm, or as scheduled for special group tours. There is no charge for admission. For more information, call 870-633-4480 or visit the EACC website at www.eacc.edu.
