Forrest City- The East Arkansas Community College Fine Arts Center presents the remarkably entertaining and educational Erth’s DINOSAUR ZOO LiveÔ on Tuesday, March 4th at 6:30 p.m. as part of the 2013-2014 Family Series.
Get ready to rumble, the dinosaurs are coming to Forrest City. Do not miss this opportunity to experience what life was like amongst these giant creatures millions of years ago. Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo LiveÔ will take the audience on a tour through pre-historic Australia bringing an eye-popping array of ancient creatures to life on stage. From the sweetly curious baby Dryosaur, to the peaceful hulk Titanosaur, and even the teeth-gnashing T-Rex, the uniquely interactive theater performance will stimulate the imagination in a way that connects children to their world.
Created in Australia, Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo LiveÔ is an experiential theatre production where audiences meet a menagerie of insects, mammals and dinosaurs that once roamed the planet millions of years ago. Featuring a large-scale cast of dinosaur puppets brought to life by sophisticated design and theatrical presentation and puppet mastery, these life-like dinosaur recreations connect children to paleontology in a fun and informative setting. Children can watch and learn, but can also interact with the creatures in this fun, educational and unique presentation.
Erth’s DINOSAUR ZOO LiveÔ is the creation of Erth Visual & Physical, Inc., who bring the impossible to life. For over 21 years, the company has developed a fantastic aesthetic and an extraordinary box of tricks, which now serve as the foundations of its unique visual and physical theatre work. Today, Erth is recognized as an innovator of physical and visual theatre nationally and internationally. Their work ranges from large-scale interactive environments such as ‘The Garden’, a prehistoric landscape inhabited by giant insects which premiered at the Melbourne International Festival of Arts, to more intimate in-theatre work and roving spectaculars. The company regularly tours internationally and more than a million people have seen its dinosaurs in museums and in performance works such as Radio Lab’s Apocalyptical, Dinosaur Petting ZooÔ and DINOSAUR ZOO LiveÔ.
Erth’s DINOSAUR ZOO LiveÔ is directed by Scott Wright, the co-founder of Erth Visual and Physical Inc. and its Artistic Director since inception in 1990. He trained as a dancer and choreographer in Victoria, Australia and is a multi-skilled artist incorporating puppetry, movement, acting, aerial, stilts and pyrotechnics. The dinosaurs and other creature puppets, as well as the flora and fauna that make up the set are designed by Steve Howarth, a founding and fulltime member of Erth. From the Erth studio workshop he supervises a team of artists in the creation of the puppets, sets, props, costumes and associated elements that constantly tour the nation and the globe.
The North American tour of Erth’s DINOSAUR ZOO LiveÔ is produced by TCG Entertainment, ArKtype and East Bank Entertainment. The production team is rounded out by Sharon Kerr, Executive Director at Erth Visual & Physical, and Anna Young, General Manager at Erth Visual & Physical. Erth’s Technical Manager Phil Downing designed the sound, lighting and video.
