Forrest City-The Fine Arts Center Gallery at East Arkansas Community College will host the 2014 Arkansas Art Educators Show from April 1-29. The annual show represents the work of educators in the organization’s eastern region.
Twelve artists have over 40 works exhibited in many different mediums including oil and acrylic paintings, etchings, collage, mixed media, and pottery. The two and three dimensional works include realistic, conceptual and abstract pieces. The regional show represents artists from ten counties in eastern Arkansas.
Cheryl McMickle, Arkansas Art Educators Eastern Region Director, says that it’s important for their students to see them as working artists. “We think it is important for us as artists to be creating our own work,” said McMickle. “We also think that as educators, we want to model for our students what it is to be working, risk-taking artists.”
Artists exhibiting original works in the show are:
Sue Ann McCoy
Hollye McCrum Jackson
The Fine Arts Center Gallery will also host the Arkansas Art Educators Eastern Region Student show from May 1-29 in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. This includes K-12 students from area counties including St. Francis, Cross, Lee, Phillips, Monroe, Woodruff, White, Crittenden, and Prairie. The show’s awards ceremony and reception will take place May 29 at 5:30 p.m.
The EACC Gallery is located at 1700 Newcastle Road in Forrest City.
