The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir will offer a free performance in the Fine Arts Center at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014.  This performance is sponsored in part by the EACC Office of Student Activities and the St. Francis County UAPB Alumni Association.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir, under the direction of Dr. Michael J. Bates, Professor of Music, is nationally recognized among historically Black colleges and universities for its diverse repertoire and excellent performances.  This 65-70 member select ensemble, founded in the 1940s by Professor Ariel “Pops” Lovelace and conducted for more than 40 years by Professor Shelton J. “Fessor” McGee, has a rich choral tradition that includes numerous performances on radio and television, as well as performances across the United States and in performances online.  In 2006, the UAPB Vesper Choir took a performance tour to Italy.

Recently, the UAPB Vesper Choir has sung in churches and schools in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Detroit, Atlanta, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Chicago, Dallas, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, San Antonio, Memphis and many other cities. A highlight of the 2010 performance schedule was a performance at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Tommy Terrific’s Wacky Magic Show with magician Tommy Diaz, has been scheduled for two free performances at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on Friday, February 14, 2014. The show theme will focus on Jazz Pioneer and Celebrated Musician, Louis Armstrong. The show will feature magic tricks related to his innovative Jazz standards such as, "Hello Dolly", "When the Saints Go Marching In", and "What a Wonderful World".  Throughout the show, Tommy Terrific will explore the fascinating life and numerous accomplishments of Louis Armstrong.  This performance is sponsored by the EACC Office of Student Activities and the Arkansas Arts Council.

The Magic Show is a unique blend of laugh-out-loud comedy coupled with sensational magic, all combined with an educational approach that is all about having fun with books. The magic works in wacky and unexpected ways, making Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic Show educational fun for the whole family.
