Forrest City-East Arkansas Community College, the Missoula Children’s Theatre, and over 40 area children will present the classic children’s story, Jack and the Beanstalk, in the EACC Fine Arts Center Auditorium on Saturday, June 16th at 5:00 pm.
The play is the culmination of the Third Annual Missoula Children’s Theater Camp that has been held at EACC for the past week. The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT Tour Actor/Directors conducted rehearsals throughout the week in preparation for the show. Jack and the Beanstalk was conceived, and written with original staging by Jim Caron with music by Michael McGill and arranged by Michael McGill.
The play is an original adaptation of the classic children’s story about Jack and what happens when a young boy plants magic beans in his own backyard. For Jack, it is the beginning of a great adventure. With a little help from magic and a vegetarian giant, Jack learns a valuable lesson about true happiness. This musical production also features a host of other characters, including the Magic Harp, Jill, Mother, Milky White, the Farmers, the Merchants, the Circus Performers and the Magic Beans.
Area children from Forrest City, Wynne, Palestine, Brinkley, Marianna, Marion, Conway, and Arlington, Tennessee participated in this year’s camp sponsored by the EACC Department of Continuing Education.
Tickets for Jack and the Beanstalk can be purchased at the door for $5.00 and seating is general admission. The public is cordially invited and encouraged to attend.
