The EACC Fine Arts Center will present Songs for America- performed by the United States Army Field Band on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.

Area High School Students and Charlie Company to Perform with U.S. Army Field Band

Forrest City-Songs for America- to be performed by the internationally acclaimed United States Army Field Band of Washington, DC, will be presented at the East Arkansas Community College Fine Arts Center on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. The U.S. Army Field Band will continue its long history of presenting free public performances with this concert.

In addition to the performances by the 65- member U.S. Army Field Band and the Soldier’s Chorus, seven students from Wynne High School Chorus will appear as guest vocalists for the performance. The vocalists are Jackson Bates-tenor, Adam Davis-bass, Junior Goodman-bass, Megan Hamilton-alto, Jamela McCaster-alto, Sarah McVay-soprano, and Jammye Robinson-soprano.

Eight students from Forrest City High School Band will appear as guest musicians to be featured during the musical selection March of the Army Field Band. The student musicians are Anthony Alexander-euphonium, Alexis Brooks-clarinet, Logan Duch-flute, Kyle Jackson-trumpet, Brodie Johnson-trumpet, Willie Lawson-tuba, Brett Pendergrass-alto sax, and Philandus Watson-tenor sax.

Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry Brigade of the Arkansas Army National Guard will serve as the Color Guard for the event.

The band is under the operational control of the Army’s Chief of Public Affairs at the Pentagon.
Known as “The Musical Ambassadors of the Army,” the Field Band travels thousands of miles each year on three major concert tours, and is considered by music critics to be one of the most distinctive musical organizations now appearing before the public. All concert tours are conducted at the direction of the Secretary of the Army, and all performances are open to the general public, free of charge.
