The East Arkansas Community College Foundation recently announced the recipients of the EACC Distinguished Teaching Award and the Outstanding Staff Award at the Annual Awards Ceremony for faculty, staff and students. The event was held in the new EACC Fine Arts Center Auditorium.

The Distinguished Teaching Award recipient, Cindy Shaw, has been a member of the EACC Allied Health Sciences faculty since 2003. This award is presented yearly by the EACC Foundation to a full-time faculty member for his or her “Excellence in Teaching” and service to students.

A co-worker states “She is one of the most disciplined and professional people I have ever known. She has demonstrated excellent leadership, team spirit, is hardworking, and she exhibits perseverance and ambition. She takes time with students, encouraging them and helping them to move forward toward their goals.”

The Outstanding Staff Award recipient is EACC Controller, Jacki Swan. This Award by the EACC Foundation is presented yearly to an EACC employee who manifests outstanding job performance, attitude and willingness to go “that extra” mile for the good of the College.

Her nomination form states: “Jacki is known all over campus as a consummate professional in her field. Her devotion to efficiency in her work, dedication and her attention to detail are but a few reasons for this much-deserved recognition. She has exhibited exemplary job performance at every level and keeps the daily work in the Business Office running smoothly.”

The award winners will also be honored during the annual Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges (AATYC) convention to be held in Hot Springs in October.
