Terrance Bolden of Parkin and Steven Brown of Forrest City have been named as the recipients of the EMT\Paramedic Scholarship at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City. Both students are enrolled in the EMT-Paramedic program at EACC.
Bolden wants to pursue a career as a paramedic and to achieve flight nurse status. He plans to attend either Arkansas State University in Jonesboro or the University of Arkansas-Little Rock after graduating from EACC. “I am very happy to receive this scholarship,” said Bolden. “I will be able to use my God given abilities learned in college to help those in need.”
Brown plans to pursue degrees in business management and firefighting but is undecided where he will attend college after graduating from EACC. He is planning on a career as a paramedic/firefighter. “I’m grateful and excited about this scholarship,” said Brown. “This scholarship will allow me to fulfill my dreams.”
The EMT\Paramedic Scholarship is provided by the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health, Section of EMS and Trauma Systems. Applicants must have successfully completed one semester of the EMT-Paramedic program and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants must reside within the EACC service area and must be willing to work in one of those counties for six months after successfully completing the EMT-Paramedic program. The deadline for application each year is May 9th.
