East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City, in partnership with the Eastern District Workforce Investment Board, recently hosted the third annual Arkansas Delta Technical Education Consortium (ADTEC) day.  Nearly 200 high school students from a five county area (Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Phillips and St. Francis) attended the event.

ADTEC Day provides the five colleges in the ADTEC consortium: East Arkansas Community College, Arkansas Northeast College, Arkansas State University-Newport, Mid-South Community College, and Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas an opportunity to showcase one of the programs under the ADTEC umbrella.  This year programs in Allied Health were featured at the event. Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Renewable Energy Technology (RET) were featured in previous years.

Each college promoted a different focus within their Allied Health programs and had the opportunity to familiarize the participants with the programs offered at each of the campuses.  ANC featured their program in Patient Care Technology, ASU-N- Surgical technology, EACC- Occupational Therapy Assistant, MSCC- Medical Assistant Technology, and PCCUA- Medical Lab technology.

Students had the opportunity to experience many different aspects of the medical programs offered at each college. “The primary goal was to provide information so that the students could make more informed decisions about their future education,” said Lee Griffith, EACC Director of Administrative Services. “This was a really successful event and was well received by the students who attended. I think they all left our campus with a much better idea of what’s out there and what kinds of programs they will want to look into when it comes time for them to decide which college to attend.”
