Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Jeff Watson joined East Arkansas Community College in June 2006 as the Director of Administrative Services. In that capacity he supervised distance learning, business & industry training, student learning assessment, and helped initiate the Advanced Manufacturing Technology program. He accepted the position of EACC Vice President for Academic Affairs in February 2007.
Prior to joining EACC Dr. Watson was employed with McLennan Community College where he was a division director and instructor of physics and mathematics. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, a Master of Science in Physics from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, a Doctorate in Secondary and Higher Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas, and other graduate work at Texas Christian University. Dr. Watson’s professional experience includes 18 years teaching physics and math at colleges and universities, three years experience as a physicist, as well as 12 years in college administration. He has been honored twice in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Dr. Watson has served as a member on two national committees: one for teaching college physics and one for teaching college mathematics. He is also a member of the Arkansas Association of Two Year Colleges, the National Council of Instructional Administrators, Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society, and the Forrest City Lions Club.
