Clinical Observational Experience
Prospective students are required to complete four (4) hours of observation in a designated radiology department to observe the various areas of radiology. The prospective student must complete the Clinical Observation Form and have the Director or a supervisor of the radiology department complete the evaluation portion of the form. This form is to be submitted to the Allied Health Science Department as part of the application process. If this portion is not completed, the prospective student's file will be incomplete and will not be considered for the program.
The prospective student would benefit greatly from at least three (3) hours of observation in the general radiography area. The remainder of the time could be used observing other specialty areas such as MR, CT, mammography or angiography.
When observing in the hospital setting, the following dress items should not be worn: Flip-flops or any open-toed shoes, t-shirts, shorts, warm-up suits, or jeans. NO piercings or tattoos should be visible. All clothing must be clean and pressed.
Any question as to appropriate attire or whether a clinical observation setting is acceptable should be directed to the Program Director at East Arkansas Community College BEFORE the observation takes place.
