Financial Aid Programs

The Financial Aid Office at East Arkansas Community College seeks to provide financial assistance to any student who, without such support, could not attend the College. A comprehensive program of financial aid in the form of scholarships, loans, grants, and jobs is provided to qualifying students. The George P. and Alice H. Walker Endowed Scholarship

Because of the caring attention given to members of this family, especially in their final days, this scholarship was established in 2004 through the estate of Mildred Sikes, daughter of George and Alice Walker and dedicated to the support of students at EACC pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in an Allied Health Field. It is expected that these students will become practicing health care professionals and provide care for many others over their lifetime. Awarded to a full-time sophomore student with a minimum 3.00 GPA, the award is $1,000 per academic year to cover expenses of tuition, fees and books. Applications may be obtained from the EACC Financial Aid Office and must be submitted by August 1st.

Forrest City Medical Center Auxiliary Allied Health Scholarship

This scholarship is provided through a fund from the Hospital Auxiliary which is obtained by proceeds from the Gift Shop, Christmas tree lights, jewelry sales, bake sales and other projects of the Forrest City Medical Center Auxiliary. The amount and number of scholarships will be dependent upon money generated by the projects of the Auxiliary. The scholarship award will be for the academic year 2011 - 2012 and will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. The scholarship award will be held for the recipient in an account at East Arkansas Community College and will be used for tuition and expenses directly relating to the recipient's education in the allied health field. The scholarship recipient will not receive cash. Applications may be obtained in the Allied Health Science Department or at Forrest City Medical Center and must be submitted by July 31st.

East Arkansas Community College Nursing Program Scholarship

This scholarship is provided through an endowment fund for scholarships to nursing schools in Colleges in the Arkansas Delta. The amount and number of scholarships annually will be dependent upon money generated by the endowment. The scholarship award will be for an academic year and will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. To receive the scholarship for the entire academic year, recipients must be a current student in EACC's nursing program progressing according to the nursing curriculum plan and enrolled in nursing courses to receive the scholarship for the entire academic year. Upon graduation, recipients of the scholarship(s) will commit to work in the State of Arkansas for a period of two years for each academic year the scholarship is received. Applications may be obtained in the Allied Health Science Department or the Financial Aid Office and must be submitted by August 1st.

Kiwanis Nursing Scholarship

The Forrest City Kiwanis Club awards one nursing scholarship each year to a nursing student who plan to work in the Forrest City area upon graduation. The scholarship may be awarded to a first-year student or a second -year student and may be received for two years upon approval of the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee. Recipients will be asked to work one year in the Forrest City area for each year they received the scholarship. Applications may be obtained in the Financial Aid Office and should be returned by August 1 of the current year. The nursing scholarship is $400 ($200 each semester.)

Mary Emma Piper Scholarship

A memorial endowment fund has been established to award a nursing scholarship to an outstanding second-year nursing student. Applications for the scholarship may be obtained from the Nursing Office and should be returned to that office. The amount of the scholarship varies.
